How Do I Register A Guest Without An Email Address?

Registering someone without an email address

If "Email Address" is a required field on the registration form, and a person you are registering does not have an email address, you cannot register him without entering an email address. Many people put in their own email address or something fake like "noemail@noemail.com", but these are not good solutions.


Why? Whenever an email address is sent to a fake account over and over, spam servers can take note. Over time, if Ministry Sync is sending out thousands of emails to fake addresses, our server could get blacklisted and this would affect all of us.


The Solution: There are 3 possible solutions:

  1. We have created a real "fake" email address. It is: noemail@ministrysync.com. Anytime you need to register a person who does not have an email address, use noemail@ministrysync.com as his email address. Anytime you use this email address, our server will not send an email, and this "fake" email will not be saved in that person's profile. In other words, this solution temporarily disables the required email address field for a registrant.
  2. Unrequire the email address field on your registration form. You may not know that you can easily unrequire this field if you are finding more people don't have email address than do. To unrequire the field go to:
    1. Template Setup -> Registration Form -> Edit Registration Form
    2. Click on the red star next to the email address you'd like to unrequire.
    3. Then the red star turns to a grey line, the field is now "not required" on your form.
  3. Add a checkbox for those who do not have an email address which will hide the email field. This will still encourage those who have email addresses to supply it, but will not prevent others without email addresses from registering. Ask your Ministry Sync support representative for assistance.
