We have made it possible for you to customize your own nametags with many formatting choices, including font, size, color, and other attributes!
The default templates that we provide cannot be directly customized; a copy must be made first, and then you can customize the copy. Click here to learn
How To Copy A Nametag Template.
To customize a nametag template:
- Click on a nametag template that you would like to customize.
- Click Customize Selected Label.
The Label Skeleton will be displayed, as shown here:

Each line in the Label Skeleton is a different object on the label.
For each of these objects, you can click the Show / Hide this Object icon (lightbulb) to hide a a certain item. Click the lightbulb icon again to make the object visible on the label.

The second icon is the Edit this Object icon. You can change certain formatting attributes for each of the five (5) types of objects.

The formatting attributes shown below describe this label:

To see how your label looks after you make formatting changes, click the Preview button to generate a .pdf file of your labels.
The section below explains how you can change each of the five types of label objects.
How to customize your label:
There are five (5) types of objects that can be contained on your label. Your label may or may not contain all of these types of objects. The list below explains what each of the objects are, and how you can change them.
You can click the
Edit this Object icon to display the formatting choices for one particular object; click the
Edit this Object icon again to hide the formatting area. You can have the formatting area open for several objects at once.
- BarCode object
If you are using Live Check-In at your event, then you will likely have a barcode displayed on your label.
This BarCode object shows the default dimensions that we use for nametags. You are free to modify these settings.

1 - If you click on the Live Check-In Barcode selection box, you will see that additional fields are listed. You can change the object to display any one of the other barcode fields listed.
2 - This is the size of the barcode (5 pts. is the default; you can make it bigger by selecting a higher number).
3 - You can left-, center-, or right-align the barcode.
4 - This is the color of the barcode; black works best for scanner readability.
5/6 - The width and height of the barcode are by default set to 35 mm (width) and 10 mm (height).
- Box Object
A box object can be as tall as the nametag itself, or as small as the height of your event title.
The dimensions below are those of the box shown in the sample label above, where the box is simply a gray shaded area behind the title.

The Box object is a very flexible item. If some additional options are selected, the Box object can be changed to look like this:

If you click on the dropdown that says Solid Color, you will see the choices shown below. You can have the color gradiate from orange to white in any direction. When you click on an item in the list (other than Solid Color), you will see a color palette in which you can choose up to two colors.
If the height of the box is increased to 55mm, then the box will cover nearly the entire height of the label.

1 - In this example, the box object gradiates in color from the first color (orange) to white. Click either of these boxes to change the colors. If you want the colors in your box to transition from one color to the next, then choose two colors.
2 - this is the height of the box. In this example, the box takes up nearly the entire label. If you want a small box to, for example, simply be a background of a name, then make the height much smaller.
3 - This selection box controls in which direction the color transitions. There are several choices. You can also choose "solid color" if you do not want to transition to a second color (the box will be a solid color, the first color selected (peach here)).
This example below shows the Box object as a solid color, and the height is 12 mm:
- GroupCode object

The GroupCode object in this nametag example displays a guest's table number. There are two parts to this object: the label 'Table:' and the actual table number itself.
1 - The Table Number field is shown on the label. If you would like to display a different field, then select another item from the list of available choices.
2 - The 'Title' is the text that is listed on every single label, before the actual table number. You can change this text by editing 'Table:', or you can even delete the text, and nothing will show before the table number.
3 - The entire 'Title Options' row applies to the 'Title' text of number 2 above. You can change the font (size) of the title text, and also Bold, Italicize, or Underline the text, and also change the color of the printed text.
4 - This entire row applies to the actual Table Number field itself. Similar to number 3 above, you can change the font, font size, you can bold/italicize/underline it, and also align it (left, center, or right, and also change the color of the printed text.
- Image Object
On this label, a sample logo is shown. You will want to insert your own image in its place.

1 - To insert your own image on the nametag, click the Browse... button. Search for your image, and upload it.
2 - To change the size of the image, decrease or increase the width by clicking and dragging the slider bar.
- Text Object

1 - In this example, the First Name field is being displayed on the label. This selection box also contains the names of other fields you might want to use, and you can click on any item to display it on the label. There is even a 'First & Last Name' field from which to choose, in which case both names will be displayed together in this object.
2 - If you would like to display text other than a field name, you can check the Custom text override option. Clicking this checkbox will change the formatting area to what is shown below, and you can enter in your own text. The text you enter here will show on the label, instead of the field.

3 - You can change the font, font size, formatting, alignment, and color of the text in this row of attributes.
4 - The Has Shadow? attribute controls the shadow behind the text. If this checkbox remains checked, you can edit the Offset
and the color of the shadow. If you deselect this item, the offset and color items disappear.
Notes
- The thumbnail image representing your label will remain the same
as the original label; it will not automatically update to reflect any
formatting changes that you have made. If you have an easy way to take
a screenshot of your new label image, you can hover your mouse over the image while you are in the Label Skeleton, and click Upload a new Image Preview.

- If
you would like to have more customizing ability than is shown here, you
can request to have advanced access to this area. Email us at support@ministrysync.com to ask us to turn this functionality on for you!
